At long last, Adobe is ending support for the old Flash web browser plugin. This means that the Flash plugin will soon be removed from web browsers on CAT supported systems. After the plugin is gone, any websites you visit that still use Flash will no longer render properly on the affected web browser.

Adobe’s official end-of-support date for Flash is Dec 21, 2020.

The CAT will be removing the Flash plugin for Firefox during the Oct 15/16 Windows patching cycle. OIT plans to remove it from their supported systems on Nov 2.

Built-in Flash plugins supported in the Chrome and Edge browsers will be deprecated on a schedule determined by the vendors. We expect that to be closer to the official Adobe deadline.

If you are still using any business-critical websites that depend on the use of Flash, you may want to contact the affected organizations about what their mitigation plans are.
