Web Servers moving to Ubuntu Bionic – Test your User Websites

In early Summer 2019, we will be transitioning our web servers to the latest long term support release of Ubuntu Linux (18.04 aka Bionic Beaver).  If you have web code or applications (especially those using PHP) on “user” websites hosted under:

http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~yourusername

you may be affected by some of these changes.

We have set up a test web server running Ubuntu Bionic at testweb.cecs.pdx.edu. If you want to ensure that your website/code hosted in your public_html directory won’t break during the transition, test it out ahead of time by going to:

http://testweb.cecs.pdx.edu/~yourusername

Note that Ubuntu Bionic’s web server environment will be running PHP 7.2.x.

We will be directly contacting owners of project related websites concerning their transition to Ubuntu Bionic.
