SPRING BREAK DOWNTIMES – 3/27 and 3/28 – Linux and Windows

Wednesday 3/27/2019

6pm – Windows Server Reboots

Short duration (maybe a half-hour tops). Affects all CAT supported Windows Desktops in offices and labs. Windows home directories. Department shares.

6pm – Linux/UNIX File Server Patching (will affect some Windows users also)

Long duration. The focus is file servers that provide Linux home directories and most of our stashes. We are reserving from 6pm till midnight in case there are any services that may require attention after patching. Affects – All CAT supported Linux systems, printing, most stashes, web sites, projects.cecs.pdx.edu, Linux home directories (and U: and S: drives on Windows)

Thursday 3/28/2019

6pm – Linux Systems Patching

Long Duration. Rolling reboots across all our supported Linux systems.  Although each reboot will be of relatively short duration, we are reserving from 6pm till midnight to account for any issues that arise from patching. Affects – All Linux systems in labs and offices, OpenVPN, printing, access to stashes and U:/S: drives on Windows, some license servers, mail servers.

NOTE: If we have issues with the Linux/UNIX file server patching on Wednesday, some of that work may be rolled over into Thursday as well.
