Finding your Windows N Drive/Home Directory

  • Open My Computer. In the address bar at the top (where you normally type a web address) type the following:

    \\khensu.cecs.pdx.edu\ (and then press enter).

  • You will be presented with a window asking for your username and password.

IMPORTANT:

You must enter: cecs\(your user name goes here) for the username.

  • After a few seconds, you will see a window with several directories. Your homedir will be in one of Home01, Home02, Home03, Home04, Home05 or Home06.

  • Next, you can find your username in the alphabetical list and double-click on it. You should now see all the files on your N:\ drive.

  • At this point, you can make a shortcut, so next time you don't have to navigate through the same mess.

In the address bar of My Computer, you will see a small icon next to the \\khensu.cecs.pdx.edu. that looks like a folder.

If you drag that out to your desktop, it will create a link directly to your home directory drive. To use that link in the future, you must connect to the VPN first.

Note: when accessing your home directory for the first time, it will always ask for your password again. Remember to enter cecs\(your username) for the username, or it will not work.
