Due to a dramatic increase in attack volume on RDP, TheCAT now requires a VPN connection to access a Remote Desktop enabled system.

  1. Connect to the VPN. (Click here for instructions for 10.5 and 10.6) Please be aware that when connected to the VPN all of your internet traffic will be routed through PSU.

  2. Download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Apple storeImage

  3. Open Microsoft Remote desktop. Then press the + to make a new connection.Image

  4. Fill out the general information as shown. First give the connection a name. Then change PC name to:  then enter your MCECS Windows credentials. Make sure that the domain name CECS is specified correctly. You must prefix your username with ‘CECS\’ i.e. CECS\username Image

  5. That's it! Close the edit window, and double click on the connection to connect.Image

  6.  You may get a warning about the server certificate, but this is normal, click ok to acknowledge it.

  7. Note: Be sure that you are connected to VPN successfully. If you are not in a VPN session.
