Solaris on Sun Sparc hardware still predominates in the CS/ECE departments. We are fully updated to Solaris 10 in all SPARC labs and on all of our servers now.

Solaris x86 (AMD64) support for faculty/research desktops is coming soon. We currently support Linux (Ubuntu) on x86 hardware. See the Linux section for details.
